The execution

US-market cars with revised body mounts, a plumbed-in fire system and, from 1990, catalytic converters. 213 of the 1,311 went to the United States.

Federalising the F40 late in the run added DOT glass, bumper reinforcement and a fire system; all US cars have wind-up windows. Clean, low-mileage examples now anchor the American market — the two Bachman-collection cars re-set the road-car record at Kissimmee in January 2026.

On the record

- 213 of the 1,311 built to US specification
- Catalysts and adjustable suspension from 1990
- Road-car record: $6.6M for a 458-mile car, Jan 2026
