The execution

Michelotto’s competition F40 for IMSA GTO and BPR/GT racing — the works race version, later GTC-spec cars making well over 700 PS.

Nineteen cars built by Michelotto in Padova: larger turbos, competition suspension and brakes, a stripped shell around 1,050 kg. Late GTC-specification cars ran their restrictors out to roughly 760 PS — the strongest F40s the works ever sanctioned, and today the model’s ceiling at auction.

On the record

- Debut: 3rd in IMSA GTO at Laguna Seca 1989, Jean Alesi
- GTC-spec cars to ~760 PS
- All-time F40 record: $11.0M — chassis 95448, Monterey 2025
- Best Le Mans result: 12th overall, 1995
