The execution

The one-off aerodynamic study — wide as a K, slippery as an LH — painted as a butcher’s diagram for Le Mans 1971. It ran as high as third before brake failure ended its only race.

A Porsche/SERA compromise study ordered by Piëch, internally “Dicke Berta”. Anatole Lapine’s studio painted it pink and chalked the butcher’s cuts on the panels — “Der Trüffeljäger von Zuffenhausen”. Reinhold Joest was aboard when the brakes failed at Le Mans 1971; it never raced again and has lived in the Porsche Museum since. Never sold, never priced.

On the record

- One built, one race — Le Mans 1971, DNF from the top three
- Livery by Anatole Lapine’s studio — every panel a butcher’s cut
- In the Porsche Museum ever since; effectively priceless
