Overview
Aston Martin announced the DB6 at the London Motor Show in October 1965. Harold Beach's longer chassis created rear legroom, while the higher roof and less steep windscreen opened the cabin.
Tadek Marek's 4.0-litre twin-cam six continued in standard and higher-output Vantage forms. The ZF five-speed manual remained the collector's default, although the Borg-Warner automatic suited the car's long-distance brief.
The Mk 2 arrived in 1969 as production shifted toward the DBS. Its arches, wheels and interior details bridge the two generations, which is why correct late-car specification deserves careful documentation.
